Japan establishes unapproved GMO tolerance levels

(Aug. 21, 2001 – CropChoice news) – The government of Japan will allow the sale of livestock feed that contains up to 1 percent of unapproved transgenic crops, including StarLink corn.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will begin enforcing the new regulation, which is the first time the government has established a tolerance level for unapproved transgenic organisms, next year.
