Percy, Monsanto and the Supremes

(Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003 -- CropChoice news) -- From a news release:

Percy Schmeiser woke up one morning to find a few of the neighbor’s canola plants growing in his field. Then the man that sold the seeds to the neighbor came by and said, “Percy, since you do not have permission to grow those plants, all of the plants in your fields now belong to Monsanto!”

This Saturday at 9AM Pacific, the Food Chain with Michael Olson hosts Canadian farmer Percy Schmeiser for Part III of a conversation about his epic legal struggle against the Monsanto Corporation.

Topics will include why Monsanto claimed ownership of Percy Schmeiser’s 50-year-old canola seed collection; why the Canadian legal system has backed Monsanto’s confiscation of Schmeiser’s farm and crops; and what defense Schmeiser will present in this precedent-setting case before the Canadian Supreme Court.

Listeners are invited to call the program on KFRM, KGET, KGOE, KMPH, KNTK, KOMY, KSCO or TRUTH RADIO with questions and comments at 800-624-2665, or log them to the discussion page at http://www.metrofarm.com .
