Syngenta sues Monsanto

(March 12, 2002 – CropChoice news) – Syngenta is suing Monsanto for what it calls "false and misleading claims by Monsanto about its own Roundup herbicide and Syngenta’s Touchdown herbicide." It says that Monsanto is doing this deliberately to gain market share. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted Touchdown 5 herbicide a label extension in 1999 for use over RR soybeans only. EPA registered Touchdown herbicide with IQ Technology in 2000 for use over RR soybeans, cotton and corn as a replacement for Touchdown 5, according to Wallaces Farmer magazine.
