Organic processing becomes big business

(Tuesday, May 6, 2003 -- CropChoice news) -- The following story says small farmers still have a role in the growing organic industry, according to the Organic Trade Association. But exactly what that role is or will be in an industry that now includes Frito-Lay, PepsiCo and Coca-Cola, isn't clear.

Perhaps these farmers will feel compelled to grow as large as possible to spread out their costs to supply the organic divisions of agribusiness that will want food ingredients as cheaply as possible.
