First batch of non-transgenic soymeal arrives at Tegel in New Zealand

(Oct. 8, 2001 CropChoice news) Last month CropChoice reported that Tegel, the largest poultry company in New Zealand and part of the Heinz Company, announced that the chickens it buys will be raised on non-transgenic feed. The first shipment of that soymeal has arrived. It came thousands of miles, from Nebraska. Tegel uses about 40,000 tons of the meal per year.
