USDA chief designates 64 South Dakota counties as disaster areas

(Aug. 15, 2002 -- CropChoice news) -- Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman has designated 64 counties in South Dakota as disaster areas. That means that farmers and ranchers there are eligible for USDA emergency loans.

"This designation makes all qualified farm operators in primary and contiguous disaster counties eligible for low-interest EM loans from the Farm Service Agency (FSA), provided eligibility requirements are met," according to an AgWeb story today.
