NYC market growers ask for help (Sept. 17, 2001 – CropChoice news) – We run this solicitation letter on behalf of farmers who sell their produce at what was the World Trade Center in New York.
Dear Friends,
On Tuesday, Sept. 11th, 2001, as the two planes hit the World Trade Center in New York City, approximately 25 market farmers had their produce displays set up at the World Trade Center Greenmarket at Church and Liberty Streets. The NYC market farmers come in from Long Island and upstate New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The market had opened as usual at 8 am. EST. It has been reported that the World Trade Center Greenmarket master Tony Mannetta and all of the participating farmers and their helpers made it out alive, but most of them lost all of their trucks, displays, produce, cash and personal belongings. Insurance coverage for these losses is very limited at best. Your help is desperately needed, so here is what you can do to assist the farmers who escaped but are suffering due to Tuesday's tragedy.
